Nicholas Howder Involved in Salinas Fatal Crash
Salinas, CA (February 18, 2022) On Wednesday, a female passenger and her dog died in a rollover crash on Armstrong Road.
Police reports say that 33-year-old Nicholas Howder was spotted driving a stolen vehicle on Boronda Road near North Main Street.
Authorities attempted to stop Howder, but he tried to flee and turned to an Auto Center Circle, but failed to enter the closed auto mall.
The suspect driver then went to Davis Road, as police officers arrive to attempt and stop him.
Howder then turned west to West Blanco Road and then lost control of his vehicle and crashed just east of Armstrong Road.
Moreover, due to their speed, the vehicle went off the road, struck a road sign, and fell off a ditch where it rolled over multiple times.
Salinas firefighters responding to the crash used the jaws of life to extricate the passengers.
Rescuers say that a female passenger and a pit bull died at the scene.
Howder had moderate injuries and was taken to a hospital.
Authorities say he will be facing several charges when he is medically cleared.
