1 Killed in Seattle Pedestrian Accident
SEATTLE, WA (August 15, 2019) – A woman died in a pedestrian accident on Aurora Avenue and 85th Street on August 13.
The officers and medics came to Aurora Avenue North near the intersection with North 85th Street, at around 9:20 p.m. They came after receiving reports of a vehicle hitting a pedestrian.
Upon their arrival, they located a 56-year-old woman at the scene. Responders extricated her under the Chevrolet Astro van that struck her.
According to the preliminary investigation, a 41-year-old man driving a southbound van on Aurora Avenue hit the woman. At the time of the crash, the woman was crossing the street in mid-block.
After a drug recognition evaluation, the driver didn’t show any signs of impairment.
The crash shut down all southbound lanes at North 85th Street and northbound lanes at North 83rd Street for hours. But all closed lanes have finally reopened.
Authorities are still investigating the collision.
