Aidan R. Kelley Dead after 3-Vehicle Crash on Highway 31 in Smith County

Smith County, TX (December 6, 2023) – On Monday, 20-year-old Aidan R. Kelley died, and 4 others sustained injuries in a crash on Highway 31.

DPS reported that a truck, driven by Cameron S. Reeves, 18, of Hawkins, crossed over the center line of Highway 31 and collided with another vehicle, resulting in one fatality and four injuries. The incident occurred at approximately 12 p.m. on Monday, involving three vehicles on Highway 31 East, west of CR 246.

Reeves, accompanied by passenger Aidan R. Kelley, 20, of Chandler, was driving west in an Isuzu truck without wearing seatbelts, according to the report. DPS stated that Reeves failed to stay in a single lane and collided with a Ford F-150 traveling east. 

Meanwhile, an eastbound Toyota Tacoma swerved to avoid Reeves’ truck, but was unable to prevent the collision. Both the Isuzu and Toyota crashed into the southern ditch and collided with trees.

Reeves sustained non-incapacitating injuries and was transported to a hospital in Tyler, while Kelley was declared dead at the scene.

The driver of the Ford, Robert T. Pierzchalski, 67, of Henderson, wearing a seatbelt, suffered minor injuries and was taken to a Tyler hospital.

Cory D. Threadgill, 40, was driving the Toyota with Brandon D. Carpenter, 42, of Gladewater, as a passenger. Both individuals sustained non-incapacitating injuries and were transported to a hospital in Tyler.
