Davood Khodyseporgh Hurt in Highway 165 Fatal Head-On Crash [Merced County, CA]

Merced County, CA (October 12, 2024) On Friday morning, 37-year-old Davood Khodyseporgh of Turlock, was hurt in a fatal crash on Highway 165 that killed another driver.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the deadly accident happened at 7 a.m. on a rural stretch of Highway 165, between Los Baños and Stevinson.

Reports say that the driver of a northbound Honda attempted to pass other vehicles in the southbound lane and collided head-on with a dump truck traveling in the opposite direction.

The impact caused the Honda to burst into flames, and despite efforts by the California Department of Fire personnel, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver’s identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin. Officials say that Khodyseporgh, the dump truck driver, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Emanuel Hospital in Turlock.

As of Friday afternoon, authorities had not determined if drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.
