Lodi Man Killed while Helping Multi-Car Pileup Victims near West Benjamin Holt Drive
STOCKTON, CA (October 27, 2018) – A man was killed early Saturday morning after he was hit by a vehicle near West Benjamin Holt Drive. The deceased victim was later identified as David Vincent Macias III, a resident of Lodi.
As per reports, five vehicles collided on the northbound Interstate 5 at about 2:00 AM. Macias saw the incident and immediately pulled over to help the victims. He rushed to the site of the crash, where he was struck by a white semi-truck.
Macias was pronounced deceased by first responders, after suffering fatal injuries. A GoFundMe page was created to assist his family with funeral expenses. Click on the link to donate and to support the campaign.
Meanwhile, it is unknown whether or not the unidentified semi-truck driver remained at the scene to cooperate with investigators. Further updates on the current medical conditions of the multi-car pileup victims were not immediately provided.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the crash and to identify possible contributing factors. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
