57-Year-Old Man Struck by Car near Highway 52
KEARNY MESA, CA (July 24, 2018) – A man was seriously injured after a bicycle collision on Highway 163, early Tuesday morning. The victim was later identified as 57-year-old David Sheridan
According to investigators, a 63-year-old woman was driving a Toyota Camry westbound on Highway 52 to the southbound Highway 163, at around 60 mph. The car in front of the Toyota swerved to the right for a Sheridan, but the elderly driver was unable to avoid hitting the bicyclist.
He was thrown off the bike and landed on the road. Emergency responders arrived at the scene around 5:15 AM, and transported him to the Sharp Memorial Hospital with major injuries. There is currently no update on his medical condition.
CHP officers closed multiple areas for about an hour and a half: the southbound Highway 163 just south of Highway 52, as well as the eastbound and westbound transition roads from Highway 52 to Highway 163.
