Francisco Valladares Injured in Deadly Head-On Crash in Redlands
REDLANDS, CA (November 25, 2019) – A man died following a head-on crash Monday afternoon in Redlands.
The crash happened around 12:20 p.m. on Redlands Boulevard, about a quarter mile south of San Timoteo Canyon Road.
According to the CHP, a Toyota Camry was traveling southbound on Redlands Boulevard behind a group of cars, when it cross over the solid double yellow lines and began to pass cars ahead in a no passing zone.
A three-axle tractor, driven by Francisco Valladares, was heading northbound on the same boulevard and could not apply the brakes in time and collided with the Camry head-on.
The impact sent the Camry into the left side of a third semi-trailer in the southbound lane which was driven by Mario Mendoza, officials said.
As a result of the crash, the Camry driver died at the scene. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Bureau identified him as David Rodriguez Jr., 48 of Beaumont.
Paramedics transported Valladares to Riverside University Health System Medical Center with minor to moderate injuries.
Meanwhile, Mendoza was not injured.
The CHP shut down Redlands at the crash scene for over two hours while they conducted a preliminary investigation and remove the vehicles.
