Fatal Sanger Pedestrian Accident on Academy Avenue
SANGER, CA (February 24, 2020) – A 71-year-old man identified as David Pinedo was killed in a pedestrian accident on Academy Avenue.
Pinedo was fatally struck by a woman later identified as Vivian Lugo on Friday night, February 21. Dispatchers arrived shortly after receiving multiple 911 calls in the area.
According to reports, Pinedo was crossing near Eight Street to get some snacks when Lugo struck him. Investigators also later revealed that Lugo was intoxicated at the time.
The surrounding area on Academy Avenue was closed off for a brief time during the preliminary investigation. Authorities later took Lugo into custody at the Fresno County Jail.
California State Officials say Lugo eventually received three charges, including vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. However, no further information has been released to the public at this time.
