Leslie Billings and Jonni Wallace Seriously Injured in Deadly Crash with Big Rig on Highway 138 in Lancaster
LANCASTER, CA (December 26, 2019) – A man was killed following a traffic collision with a big rig Thursday afternoon in Lancaster.
The crash happened around 4:30 p.m. on Highway 138 at 90th Street West.
A 2006 Hyundai Santa Fe, driven by 41-year-old Leslie Billings of Rifle, Colorado, was traveling at an unsafe speed. It then lost control and collided head-on with a 2007 Freightliner truck.
As a result, a backseat passenger in the Hyundai suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office later identified him as 56-year-old David Mora of Taft, California.
Billings and another passenger in the Hyundai, 41-year-old Jonni Wallace of Glenwood Springs, Colorado, were seriously injured. Paramedics transported them to Antelope Valley Hospital in unknown conditions.
Meanwhile, the big rig’s driver, 49-year-old Carlos Hurtado of Los Angeles, was unharmed.
Highway 138 was shut down in both directions while officers investigated the fatal crash.
