Albert Arthur Lopez Arrested after Possible DUI Accident on 9500 Block of Whittier Boulevard
PICO RIVERA, CA (February 11, 2018) – A 27-year-old San Pedro man was struck and killed by a pickup truck on the 9500 block of Whittier Boulevard on Sunday morning.
According to reports, David Michael Villarreal had left from a club and was stepping off a median onto the road around 4 AM on Sunday morning when a black Ford F-150 struck him. The driver, 23-year-old Albert Arthur Lopez, was traveling westbound on Whittier Blvd under the influence of alcohol.
Officials arrived at the scene of the crash to find the victim lying in the center median. Detective Jose Marquez of the Sheriff’s Pico Rivera station said that the man may have been struck by multiple vehicles and was pronounced on scene. No other injuries were reported in the fatal accident.
Lopez was arrested for allegedly hitting a pedestrian and booked at the Sheriff’s Pico Rivera station on Sunday morning following the crash. Bond was posted on Monday and he was released; the 33-year-old Rosemead man sitting passenger was not arrested. Lopez will appear in Bellflower Superior Court shortly.
