David Mata Arrested, Injuries Reported in Crash at Nissan Dealership on 425 South Kellogg Avenue [Goleta, CA]

DUI Crash in Nissan Dealership Leads to Arrest of David Mata

 
Goleta, CA (UPDATE) – On Wednesday, David Matas, 39, drove his vehicle into a Nissan dealership on 425 South Kellogg Avenue.
 
Fire Capt. Daniel Bertucelli said the incident occurred when a black sedan was traveling northbound on Kellogg at a fast speed when it left the roadway.
 
Then, it clipped a fire hydrant and crashed into at least three vehicles on the dealership lot. It also damaged signage at the dealership.
 
Bertucelli also said that a juvenile passenger, about 14 years of age, sustained moderate injuries in the accident.
 
Shortly after, the AMR ambulance took the injured victim to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
 
Even so, his name and the details on his condition were not available.
 
Rescuers also took the second occupant to a hospital for evaluation, though, he did not appear to be seriously injured.
 
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the crash.

Santa Barbara Police arrested David Mata following the collision and his initial refusal to take a blood-alcohol test.
 
He is now charged with felony counts of driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury, and driving with a suspended license related to a previous DUI conviction, among other charges.
