David Hurick Baughman Dies in Bicycle Accident on Interstate 49 [Jasper, MO]

Jasper, MO (October 22, 2024) – David Hurick Baughman, 21, of Lamar, was killed in a bicycle accident on Interstate 49 Saturday night.

It was past 8:30 p.m. when the authorities received reports of a person on a motorized bicycle struck by an SUV.

Investigators said, a northbound 2009 Buick Enclave driven by Stephen Broddle, 71, of Kansas City, Kansas, had rear-ended a northbound motorized that was in the driving lane.

David Hurick Baughman was operating a phatmoto motorized bicycle at the time of the accident. There is no information if the bicycle was electric or gas that assisted the bicycle while riding.

Sadly, David Hurick Baughman was killed at the scene while Stephen Broddle was not hurt.

Meanwhile, S&S Towing has removed both vehicles and debris from the crash scene.

The authorities are investigating.
