8-Year-Old Boy Dies after Scooter Accident near Panorama Avenue
TURLOCK, CA (June 26, 2019) – Authorities identified 8-year-old David Herrera of Long Beach as the boy hit and killed by a car near Panorama Avenue, Wednesday evening.
According to the Turlock Police Department, the incident happened at about 7:30 PM. David attempted to cross West Christoffersen Parkway on his scooter when a Toyota sedan hit him.
Emergency responders rushed the victim to a hospital for immediate treatment. Unfortunately, the boy died from his critical injuries. Two other boys were with the victim at the time of the collision, but they did not suffer injuries.
Meanwhile, the 18-year-old woman driving the sedan remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Police ruled out intoxication and speed as factors in the fatal crash.
