One Killed in Pedestrian Collision near Clark Road
EL SOBRANTE, CA (November 21, 2019) – A vehicle struck and killed David Gonzales on San Pablo Dam Road Thursday night in El Sobrante.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Clark Road.
Reports showed that the 36-year-old walked northbound on foot outside of a designated crosswalk. He walked in front of a Chrysler 300 and the vehicle struck him.
Paramedics transported Gonzales to John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek after the incident. The Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office confirmed that the victim died at the hospital.
A preliminary investigation revealed the 65-year-old driver did not see the victim crossed in front of his vehicle. The road had limited lighting and no street lights at the time of the accident.
At this time alcohol or drug impairment are not suspected but the incident remains under investigation.
