David Cordova Santiago of Clovis Dies in Pedestrian Accident on Highway 180 by Fowler Off-Ramp
Fowler Avenue, CA (May 7, 2021) – A passing vehicle struck and killed pedestrian David Cordova Santiago, 19, in a crash on Fowler Avenue on Wednesday.
The fatal incident happened on May 5 near Highway 180 and Fowler Avenue around 10:20 p.m.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a vehicle with three occupants pulled over for unknown reasons. Then, the 19-year-old man exited the car and went onto the lanes of the freeway.
As a result, a 39-year-old male driver of a passing vehicle struck him.
The driver called 911 soon after the collision happened.
“At this time, it’s been determined that a vehicle had pulled over on the shoulder and a passenger exited the vehicle directly into the lanes of travel and was struck by traffic,” CHP Sgt. John Tyler said.

Furthermore, officers believed that alcohol might be a factor in the collision. However, may have been on the part of the pedestrian, and not the vehicle.
The investigation on the death of the Clovis resident remains ongoing.
