David Bell Dead in Devastating Head-On Crash on Highway 247 [Lucerne Valley, CA]

LUCERNE VALLEY, CA (July 18, 2024) – Monday afternoon, David Bell died in a devastating head-on crash on Highway 247.

The incident happened at around 2:25 p.m. along Highway 247, east of Rattlesnake Canyon Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a southbound Toyota Prius veered over the painted solid double yellow lines into the northbound traffic and collided head-on with a northbound 2019 Ford F-550 pickup truck carrying canisters of propane. Then, the force of the crash ejected the driver of the Prius onto the roadway, while the pickup truck rolled over and came to rest on a dirt shoulder. Also, the Prius erupted into flames after the crash.

Moreover, responders pronounced the driver of the Prius, identified as 84-year-old Palm Desert man, Bell, dead at the scene. Then, paramedics transported the 32-year-old male driver of the pickup, and a 52-year-old male passenger, to a hospital with moderate injuries.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.
