Fatal Pedestrian Crash at Bascom and Union Avenues
SAN JOSE, CA (September 11, 2019) – A man was killed after being struck by a car Wednesday evening in San Jose, according to police.
The crash happened just before 9:00 p.m. at the intersection of Bascom and Union avenues.
Police said the man was walking eastbound in the middle of the intersection when he was hit by a white 2017 Chevrolet Volt traveling northbound on Union Avenue.
Paramedics arrived and rushed the pedestrian to a hospital, where he died the next day, according to reports.
The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 28-year-old David Garrett Beck.
The driver of the Chevrolet remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
