Santa Rosa, CA (March 17, 2022) – On Wednesday, David Wensloff, a 57-year-old homeless man died in a pedestrian accident on College Avenue.
Officers received the crash report at about 6 a.m. at the intersection with Mendocino Avenue.
According to the officers, the victim was at the southwest corner of the intersection when he started walking north across College Avenue.
At the same time, a 26-year-old Santa Rosa man was westbound in a Toyota Rav4. The vehicle struck Wensloff who was in the right lane of College.
Moreover, the authorities are investigating if the victim was in a crosswalk and how fast the driver was going during the fatal incident.
“So far, evidence indicates the driver had a green light and the pedestrian was walking against a red light, “an officer said.
Reports say the pedestrian was thrown into the air and rested about 100 feet from where he was struck.
Immediately, rescuers took Wensloff by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where he later died.
