Ferry Point Tunnel Multi-Car Crash Injures Dave Matthews, Fundraiser Launched
Richmond, CA (June 22, 2020) – On Sunday, Dave Matthews was seriously injured due to a DUI crash near the Ferry Point tunnel in Point Richmond.
The accident happened at around 10:12 a.m., at Dornan Drive and Western Drive.
A motorist had a u-turn at the Ferry Point tunnel and suddenly struck a passing truck. Then, it also crashed into several parked cars.
Moreover, Dave Matthews, who was loading items in his car, was pinned between the two vehicles that collided.
An air ambulance rushed the victim to a trauma center. Medics said the victim was in serious but stable condition.
Meanwhile, the police arrested the motorist that caused the accident on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Furthermore, it is always crucial to stay focused whenever driving. Above all, do not drive when inebriated, especially with alternatives like ride share services available.
A Gofundme later launched in order to raise money for Mr. Matthews. According to Michelle Campos, “Tragically, Dave lost his 2 legs, 1 at the knee and 1 below the knees.”
Please consider donating if you have the means, as the fundraiser will help pay for Mr. Matthews’ medical costs, including acute rehabilitation, home care nursing, and prosthetics.
