Camp Pendleton Marine Officer Killed, Darryl Sheffey Arrested in Oceanside Crash
Oceanside, CA (December 07, 2021) – On Monday, the authorities arrested 36-year-old Darryl Sheffey in a fatal vehicle crash on Interstate 5.
The traffic collision happened at 3:20 a.m. near Las Pulgas Road.
Sheffey was driving his Ford Edge southbound on the freeway when it collided. His vehicle blacked out in traffic lanes.
Immediately, a 20-year-old Marine from Camp Pendleton stopped and helped Sheffey and his 31-year-old female passenger.
As the Marine was providing aid to Sheffey, a 41-year-old man driving an International box truck crashed into Sheffey’s car and the Marine.
Unfortunately, the Marine died at the crash scene.
Moreover, the emergency responders took Sheffey and his female passenger to the hospital with major injuries.
Later on, the authorities arrested Sheffey for multiple felony charges. Officers said Sheffey will be booked into the San Diego County Jail after he is treated.
Meanwhile, the officers withheld the Marine’s name pending notification of kin.
