59-Year-Old Bicyclist Fatally Struck on Alondra Boulevard
COMPTON, CA (May 20, 2018) – A bicyclist was struck and killed by a driver on Bradfield Avenue early Sunday morning and authorities are now looking for the suspect. Family members identified the victim as 59-year-old Darnell Parker Sr.
The collision occurred at around 12:05 AM at the intersection of Alondra Boulevard and Bradfield Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Compton station. Parker and his family lived in the area, and it was stated that he may have been heading to a relative’s house when he was struck.
The driver fled after the crash and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders.
Deputies planned to view video footage from nearby surveillance cameras, and they were looking to speak with residents who may have some information about the collision. A search was started for the driver who struck and killed Parker, and streets in the area were closed as authorities investigated the fatal crash. There is currently no description of the hit-and-run driver or the vehicle involved in the fatal collision.
