1 Person Dead in San Jacinto Hit-and-Run Accident on State Street near Esplanade Avenue

SAN JACINTO, CA (July 29, 2024) – Saturday afternoon, authorities arrested Darell Davis after a fatal pedestrian crash on State Street.

The incident happened around 5:10 p.m. on State Street, south of Esplanade Avenue.

According to reports, a white 2015 Chevrolet Camaro struck a pedestrian, and then fled the scene without stopping to provide aid.

Hemet Fire Department performed life-saving measures to the victim, but to no avail. Responders pronounced the pedestrian, dead at the scene.

The San Jacinto Traffic Reconstruction Team managed to locate and arrest the suspect, identified as 33-year-old Davis of Moreno Valley, on suspicion of felony hit and run.

Authorities withheld the identity of the deceased, pending notification to the next of kin.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
