Danny Joya Dead, Another Injured after Lakeview Big Rig Collision on Ramona Expressway
SAN JACINTO, CA (August 12, 2019) — The Riverside County coroner identified Danny Joy as the man killed in a big rig accident in Lakeview.
The head-on crash between a big rig and a vehicle happened in unincorporated Lakeview near San Jacinto. As a result, firefighters and paramedics rushed to Ramona Expressway east of Bridge Street at 4:15 a.m. on Saturday, August 10.
Officials found a heavily damaged M&H Transport Inc. tractor-trailer big-rig disabled in the middle of the roadway. In addition, they discovered a heavily damaged and barely recognizable white sedan that landed about 100 yards away. As a result, the impact flipped the sedan upside down. Police located it on its roof in a field adjacent to the road.
Authorities also found the two victims at the crash site, according to the Riverside County Fire Department. 26-year-old San Jacinto resident Danny Joya succumbed to his injuries at the scene. In addition, first responders transported the second victim to a hospital with moderate injuries.
The California Highway Patrol investigated the cause of the incident.
