Car Crashes into Palm Tree and Fire Hydrant in Phoenix Killing the Driver
PHOENIX, AZ (August 24, 2019) – A man was killed in a car accident Saturday evening in central Phoenix, police said.
The crash happened around 7:15 p.m. near the area of Indian School Road and 15th Avenue.
According to Phoenix police, 28-year-old Danny Lopez Guerra was driving a 2005 Honda Civic when for unknown reasons, he crashed into a palm tree and a block fence. The vehicle also broke off a fire hydrant, flooding the street and a small apartment complex nearby.
Emergency crews arrived and pronounced Guerra dead at the scene.
Due to the crash, Indian School Road was closed from 15th to 16th avenues while crews work to clear the scene.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but Phoenix police believe speed may have been a factor.
