72-year-old Danni Mursu Killed in Horrific Hit-and-Run Crash on Magnolia Avenue [Riverside, CA]

Riverside, CA (September 27, 2024) On Wednesday evening, 72-year-old Danni Mursu of Riverside died after a tragic hit-and-run crash on Magnolia Avenue.

According to Riverside police, the fatal pedestrian crash happened around 7 p.m. on the eastbound lane of Magnolia Avenue.

Reports say that Leonicio Gonzalez Cruz, a 21-year-old unlicensed driver allegedly struck and killed the 72-year-old pedestrian on a Riverside street before fleeing the scene.

Authorities later apprehended Cruz and was booked into Robert Presley Jail for hit-and-run resulting in death and driving without a license, with bail set at $75,000.

Officials say that Cruz, driving a Dodge Charger, reportedly hit the victim and sped away. It is unclear whether Mursu was crossing the road or walking along the shoulder.

Witnesses quickly called 911, and paramedics arrived at the scene within minutes, providing aid before Mursu was transported to Riverside Community Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries shortly afterward.

Police, using evidence collected at the scene, officers identified Cruz and arrested him at a residence nearby without incident later that evening.
