Deborah Castillo Hospitalized in Plumas County Fatal Crash

Plumas County, CA (July 21, 2022) – On July 19, at about 12:01 p.m., Danna Forbis, 55, from Reno, NV, died, while Deborah Castillo, 34, from Quincy, sustained injuries in a solo vehicle crash on Highway 70.

According to the investigators, Leonard Forbis, 42, from Reno, NV, was driving an eastbound 2001 Subaru Legacy, at an unknown speed, east of Sierra Springs Drive.

Deborah Castillo was Subaru’s right front passenger. Danna Forbis was seated in the left rear seat and was not wearing a seatbelt.

Reports say that the Subaru crossed the solid double yellow lines that separate the east and westbound lanes.

Then, Leonard Forbis aggressively steered to the right and the vehicle entered the dirt shoulder on the south freeway.  He overcorrected to the left but the vehicle spun counter-clockwise across both lanes freeway.

The  Subaru went airborne as the north edge of the highway falls off into a deep valley.

Afterward, the Subaru tilted front down and the roof crashed into a large pine tree. The vehicle finally rested on its side.

Deborah Castillo exited the Subaru under her own power and the paramedics rushed her to Renown via ground ambulance.

Moreover, the medical and fire personnel on the scene had to cut Leonard Forbis from the wreckage. The authorities arrested him on the scene before Careflight Helicopter transported him to Renown.

Sadly, Danna Forbis lost her life at the scene.

In the meantime, an investigation for driving while under the influence of drugs and manslaughter is ongoing.
