1 Killed and 3 Injured in Solo-Vehicle Collision at White Avenue
POMONA, CA (December 10, 2018) – Early Monday morning, one person was killed and three others were injured in an accident on the eastbound San Bernardino 10 Freeway. The deceased victim was identified as 18-year-old Daniel Paez from El Monte.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at around 3:40 AM on the White Avenue off-ramp.
Officials stated that a 2004 Ford Expedition, driven by Paez, was speeding as he exited the freeway. He lost control and went to the right shoulder on a curve where his vehicle hit a light pole and a chain-link fence, and overturned several times.
First responders arrived at the crash site and pronounced Paez dead at the scene. A 15-year-old female passenger of El Monte was not wearing her seatbelt, and was ejected from the SUV, sustaining major injuries. Another passenger, a 17-year-old female, also suffered major injuries, and an 18-year-old man sustained moderate injuries. They were transported to the hospital, but there is no update on their current conditions.
No additional information has been released to the public, as the investigation continues.
We express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Daniel Paez. May he rest in peace.
