1 Dead and 2 Injured in San Jose Motorcycle Crash on Highway 85 and Cottle Road
SAN JOSE, CA (March 24, 2021) – Sunday night, Daniel Ortiz Chacon died in a motorcycle accident on Highway 85 and Cottle Road.
The incident occurred at about 8:00 p.m. in the southbound lanes north of Cottle Road.
According to the initial investigation, the driver of a 2009 Acura TSX sedan lost control of the car. As a result, the vehicle collided with 21-year-old Daniel Ortiz Chacon riding a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle. From the second-from-the-left lane, the impact threw the rider onto the road.
Meanwhile, the Acura drove across the southbound lanes and went off the right shoulder until it crashed into a guardrail.
The crash left Daniel Ortiz Chacon with fatal injuries. Responders transported him to a hospital where he later succumbed to injuries.
On the other hand, the 26-year-old Acura driver, a Los Banos man, and his 22-year-old female passenger were both transported to the hospital with major injuries.
At this time, the authorities are still investigating the circumstances that have led up to the crash.
