LAKE GEORGE, CA (August 4, 2018) – An elderly woman was killed Friday morning after a hot air balloon had a hard landing on High Chaparral Road. The coroner’s office later identified the deceased victim as 73-year-old Dana Haskell of Columbus, Nebraska.
According to the Colorado State Patrol, a Cameron A-250 hot air balloon lost control and had a hard landing near Highway 24, around 10:30 AM.

She sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the Penrose Hospital by Flight for Life. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries and was later pronounced dead by medical staff. Two others were injured in the incident, but it is unclear whether or not they were hospitalized.
The case remains under investigation by the authorities at this time, and no additional information has been released to the public.
