Elderly Woman Involved in Solo-Vehicle Accident near Highway 89
OLD STATION, CA (March 29, 2019) – Authorities rushed to the scene of a rollover crash on Highway 44, Friday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 9:20 AM. Due to unknown circumstances, a vehicle plowed through a guardrail and overturned onto its side near Highway 89.
Good Samaritans and several witnesses immediately helped to pull the elderly woman from her overturned vehicle. As per reports, the driver did not sustain injuries in the crash.
Shasta County Cal Fire arrived to assist the elderly driver and to evaluate the area. They requested CalTrans to the scene to assess the damage and to repair the guardrail. Cal Fire also requested a flat-bed tow truck to remove the wrecked vehicle.
Investigators believe that the icy weather contributed to the crash. Additional information will be released following the conclusion of the investigation.
