2 Teens Killed and 3 Others Injured in Solo-Vehicle Crash near Interstate 680
WALNUT CREEK, CA (August 12, 2018) – Two people were killed early Sunday morning and three others were injured following a suspected DUI crash near Interstate 680.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident took place at about 4:01 AM on Highway 24. A Honda, driven by 18-year-old Antioch resident Ramya Ramey, was approaching the Interstate 680 interchange when it went off the highway and overturned onto Boulevard Circle.
Two male passengers – 17-year-old Dakarai Rishon Fagorala and 18-year-old John Hamed Walizada – sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. A GoFundMe page was created to assist Fagorala’s family with funeral expenses. Click on the link to donate and to support the campaign.
Meanwhile, Ramey and two female passengers were transported to the John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek. They all suffered major injuries and were still hospitalized as of Monday morning. There is no update on their current condition at this time. The teen driver was later arrested on suspicion of felony manslaughter for killing two passengers and multiple felony DUI counts for injuring two other passengers.
