[UPDATE] Female Pedestrian Killed in San Jose Identified as Cynthia Bernard
SAN JOSE, CA (June 3, 2020) – Over the weekend, Cynthia Carmen Bernard died after Esfandiar Nikbakhshtali struck her with his vehicle on Curtner Avenue.
At around 11:25 p.m., the 64-year-old woman was initially walking in westbound lanes of Curtner Avenue.
Esfandiar Nikbakhshtali was driving a gold-colored 2000 Dodge Caravan when he hit the woman on Canoas Gardens Avenue.
San Jose police Officer Gina Tepoorten revealed that responders transported Ms. Bernard to an area hospital.
Unfortunately, she later died at the hospital.
On Friday, the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office released her name to the public.
Meanwhile, police arrested Esfandiar Nikbakhshtali in Santa Clara. The authorities booked him into Santa Clara County jail on suspicion of hit-and-run, driving while under the influence and possession of drug paraphernalia.
