60-Year-Old Cynthia Carey Struck and Killed in Capitola Bus Accident
CAPITOLA,CA (March 26, 2019) – On Tuesday morning, 60-year-old Cynthia Carey was killed in a car accident with a bus on Clares Street.
According to the Capitola Police Department, the incident occurred around 10:00 AM near 41st Street.
As per reports, Carey was in her smart car when she was rear ended by a van. As a result, her vehicle was pushed into the path of a Metro Bus that was turning left from Clares Street to 41st Avenue heading north towards Soquel Drive. Soon after, the bus crashed into Carey’s vehicle.
First responders arrived shortly after and pronounced Carey dead at the scene.
The driver of the van was transported to a nearby hospital. His injuries are currently unknown. There were about eight to ten people on the bus at the time of the collision. However, no injuries were reported from any of the passengers.
The surrounding area was closed off for a brief time for cleanup and preliminary investigation. No further details have been released regarding the circumstances leading up to the incident at this time.
