62-Year-Old Bicyclist Fatally Struck By Vehicle East of Lorenzo
Cross County, TX (September 23, 2023) – On Thursday morning, 62-year-old Robert Hurd of Middletown, Connecticut, was killed in a Highway 62/82 collision.
The fatal collision happened past 9 a.m. approximately two miles east of Lorenzo.
According to the accident report, Hurd was riding his bicycle eastbound on the freeway. At the same time, a pick-up truck was also eastbound in the outside lane.
Apparently, Hurd veered into the same lane and was hit by the vehicle.
Unfortunately, Hurd died from his injuries at the accident scene.
According to the GoFundMe for his charity Please Be Kind To Cyclist, Hurd was also struck by a car in 2015 while cycling. Hurd spent two weeks in the ICU recovering from the accident.
“Now 8 years later, I want to give back. I will be riding my bike across the country starting in San Francisco back home to Connecticut and I would love to raise money for athletes that have been injured in car crashes,” he said in the GoFundMe.
Please Be Kind to Cyclists is a non-profit organization based in Austin. It’s goal is to raise awareness and educate both drivers and bicyclists on safe road use.
Sweet Lawyers express sympathies to those who love Robert Hurd. Our hearts are with you through these trying times.
