Cyclist Dies After Colliding with Vehicle on South Avenue in Fresno
FRESNO, CA (October 01, 2019) — A 76-year-old cyclist died in a collision on South Avenue near Englehart Avenue Sunday night.
The California Highway Patrol said a car collided with the cyclist at about 6:00 p.m. The car was eastbound while the cyclist was crossing South Avenue from south to north.
The cyclist went directly into the path of the car and triggered the crash based on an investigation. The officers suspected that he was under the influence of alcohol. He died as a result of the collision.
On the other hand, the 19-year-old driver and his teen female passenger did not sustain injuries. It did not appear that the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol according to the investigators.
The collision prompted the closure of South Avenue for an hour and a half.
