Cyclist Killed in Accident on Avocado Boulevard [La Mesa, CA]

Man Fatally Struck by Car in Bicycle Crash near Nabal Drive

 
LA MESA, CA (August 4, 2018) – A cyclist was struck and killed in an accident on Avocado Boulevard, on Saturday morning. His name and place of residence were not immediately released, pending notification of family members.
 
According to Officer Travis Garrow with the California Highway Patrol, the fatal collision took place around 8:10 AM near Nabal Drive.
 
The unidentified man was riding a Masi Gran Corsa road bike southbound on Avocado in the bike lane, when he turned left into the path of a car. He was struck by a Toyota Camry, driven by a 63-year-old woman, and ejected onto the road.
 
Emergency personnel arrived at the scene and rushed the injured man to the Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego, where he was later pronounced dead. No additional information has been disclosed as authorities continue to investigate the tragic incident.
