Cyclist Airlifted to Hospital after Westminster SUV Crash
WESTMINSTER, MD (August 28, 2019) – A cyclist sustained injuries following an SUV Crash on New Windsor Road on Sunday, August 25.
The accident happened near Stone Chapel Road in Westminster just after 10 a.m.
According to Lt. Nicholas Krionderis of the Westminster Volunteer Fire Department, the impact caused the cyclist to be trapped under the SUV. It took crews around 10 minutes from their time of arrival to extricate the victim.
Officers then airlifted the cyclist to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. The cyclist was in stable condition on Sunday afternoon, Lt. Mark Devilbiss of the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office stated.
Paramedics also transported the driver of the SUV via ambulance to Carroll Hospital with minor injuries.
Authorities shut down the roads for approximately 45 minutes.
The Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the incident. There were no citations issued at the scene, according to Devilbiss.
