26-Year-Old Crystal Shrum Fatally Injured near Bob Lane on Fair Oaks Boulevard

CARMICHAEL, CA (March 4, 2018) – A woman was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver on Fair Oaks Boulevard near Bob Lane, on early Sunday morning around 12:13 AM.

The 26-year-old female victim was identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office as Crystal Shrum of Carmichael. Shrum had been celebrating her 26th birthday with her cousin and their boyfriends at the Players Club Sports Pub and Grill on Sunrise Boulevard.

Officer Amy Walker stated that the victim was found face down in the middle of the wet road. Shrum was reportedly walking home after an argument took place at the venue they were in. Evidence suggests that the woman was already laying down on the road, but there are no further details leading up to the incident.

This winding stretch of Fair Oaks Blvd is considered to be dangerous and not well lit for driving in the evening, making it difficult to see.

There is currently no detailed description of the vehicle involved, but officers have found gray pieces in the road. No witnesses have come forward at this time. If you have any further information on this fatal accident, contact the California Highway Patrol dispatch at (916) 861-1300.

A GoFundMe page was set up to assist family members with expenses.

Wishing the family and friends of Crystal Shrum strength and support in this difficult time. May she rest in peace.
