Isaac Rebollar-Gonzalez Critical After Crash on Interstate 35 in Cooke County

Cooke County, TX (February 19, 2024) – Early Sunday morning, 22-year-old Crystal Mendoza from Dallas died in a crash on Interstate 35.

The Texas Department of Public Safety reports that Isaac Rebollar-Gonzalez, 23, from Little Elm, and Crystal Mendoza, 22, from Dallas, were involved in a single-vehicle crash that left their vehicle disabled in the right lane of southbound I-35. 

While Rebollar-Gonzalez and Mendoza were standing outside their vehicle, Maliki Howard, 21, from Bethany, LA, drove another vehicle into them and their car.

The incident occurred just before 4 a.m. in Valley View. Emergency services flew Rebollar-Gonzalez to Medical City Denton with critical injuries.

Authorities transported Mendoza to a Denton hospital, where she was pronounced dead. 

Howard received treatment for serious injuries at Medical City Denton, according to DPS.

DPS has stated that the investigation into the crash is ongoing, and no additional information is currently available.
