Cristobal Solis and Dennis Warren Killed in Tragic 2-Car Crash on Highway 36 [Callahan County, TX]

Callahan County, TX (December 20, 2023) On Saturday evening, 48-year-old Cristobal Solis of Abilene, and 55-year-old Dennis Warren of Houston died in a tragic 2-vehicle collision on State Highway 36.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the deadly wrong-way crash happened on State Hwy 36 in Callahan County.

Officials say that the eastbound pickup truck Warren was driving veered off into the westbound lanes and collided with the westbound pickup truck Solis was driving, with 74-year-old Frank Solis, also from Abilene, as passenger.

Authorities pronounced both Warren and the younger Solis dead at the scene, while the elder Solis was taken to Hendrick North Medical Center with incapacitating injuries. Officials say that he is now listed in stable condition.

DPS is investigating the probable cause of the collision.
