1 Dead and 2 Injured in San Diego Auto Accident on Las Pulgas Road
SAN DIEGO, CA (June 18, 2024) – Saturday morning, 20-year-old Cristian Baneulos died in a horrific crash on Las Pulgas Road.
The incident happened when USMC Lance Cpl. Banuelos of Mount Vernon lost control of the northbound BMW 440i for unknown reasons at about 5:45 a.m.
As a result, the vehicle veered to the left south of Las Pulgas Road and hit a center guardrail. Eventually, it went to the other side of the freeway, rolled over, and hit an emergency callbox and a barbed-wire fence, CHP public affairs Officer Hunter Gerber said.
In a tragic accident, Banuelos was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), one of his passengers, a 21-year-old man, was transported to a trauma center with serious injuries. Another passenger, a 19-year-old woman, sustained minor injuries but did not require hospital care.
At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
