Injuries Reported in Gaviota Rollover Accident on Highway 101 near Gaviota Rest Area

GAVIOTA, CA (May 4, 2023) – Wednesday afternoon, a crippling single-vehicle crash on Highway 101 near Gaviota Rest Area injured 3 people.

The incident happened at about 3:57 p.m. on Highway 101 northbound, just north of the Gaviota Rest Area.

According to reports, a GMC pickup truck overturned.

As a result, responders airlifted one female passenger via Calstar Air helicopter.

Also, the crash left the driver and the minor female passenger with minor injuries.

Reports confirmed that all three patients were taken to the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

Fire officials also confirmed that two of the three northbound lanes were closed.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified,
