MATHER, CA (December 5, 2023) – Sunday, a crippling single-vehicle crash on Forest Rte-1N14 and Forest Rte-1N9 injured 1 person.
The crash which was initially reported as a traffic collision with minor injuries occurred at around 11:49 a.m. It happened near the intersection of Forest Rte-1N14 and Forest Rte-1N97, between Cherry Lake Dam and Lake Eleanor.
Subsequently, at 3:35 PM, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) upgraded the incident classification to a major injury collision.
The involved vehicle is a silver Jeep bearing the license plate 7N94620. The collision resulted in frontal damage to the vehicle, caused by an impact on a tree located approximately a quarter-mile across the dam. The sole occupant of the vehicle, a 53-year-old male, sustained a head injury.
Emergency services promptly responded, and the injured individual was taken to the hospital in the same silver Jeep. Recovery operations have been initiated, with Affordable Tow and Vic’s Towing being enlisted for assistance.
As of the latest update, the damaged vehicle is positioned on the other side of the dam at Cherry Lake. The circumstances leading to the collision are under investigation by the CHP, and further details regarding the sequence of events and the current condition of the injured individual are pending.
