Injuries Reported in San Antonio Auto Accident on Interstate 37 and Southeast Military Drive
SAN ANTONIO, TX (August 6, 2024) – Sunday night, a crippling rollover crash on Interstate 37 and Southeast Military Drive injured 1 person.
The incident occurred at about 11:00 p.m. near the intersection of Interstate 37 and Southeast Military Drive.
According to police, an unidentified 18-year-old male was driving a Mitsubishi southbound when he lost control while racing another vehicle on the highway. The teenage driver veered into a grassy median, causing a girl to be ejected from the vehicle during the crash.
The girl landed on top of a parked SUV in an apartment parking lot. Two neighbors called 911 and assisted her until EMS arrived. Police stated that neither the driver nor the female passenger were wearing seat belts during the crash. The girl was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where she is in critical condition.
The San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) reported that the driver was not intoxicated but was taken into custody and charged with one count of racing on a highway, causing serious bodily injury. The San Antonio Police Department, the San Antonio Fire Department, and EMS all responded to the incident.
