Injuries Reported in National City Auto Accident on E 4th Avenue and I Street
NATIONAL CITY, CA (April 9, 2024) – Monday afternoon, a crippling police chase crash on E 4th Avenue and I Street injured 2 people.
The incident began with a police chase of a carjacking suspect.
A car was stolen from the Iris Avenue trolley station. The thief flashed a badge at a woman in a Ford Mustang and pulled her out of the car. Later, police saw the stolen car leaving a parking garage on Imperial Avenue. They chased it into National City, where it crashed into a truck at E. 4th Avenue and I Street. Then, the stolen car hit two parked cars.
The suspect was arrested. A woman in the Mustang got a broken leg and was taken to the hospital. The truck driver had minor injuries and also went to the hospital. The woman pulled from the Mustang was not hurt.
At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
