NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA (April 10, 2024) – Wednesday afternoon, a crippling fiery crash on 170 Freeway injured 2 people.

The incident happened shortly before 1:00 p.m. on 170 Freeway. Officers pursued a reckless driving suspect in a gray BMW in the San Fernando Valley, authorities revealed.

A man, whose identity remains undisclosed, drove onto the 170 Freeway, heading southbound, before exiting onto surface streets. LAPD vehicles pursued closely behind. Near the intersection of Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Emilita Street, the suspect was involved in a violent collision with another driver.

The collision caused the suspect’s gray BMW to burst into flames, while the innocent driver’s car ended up in the middle of Laurel Canyon Boulevard, with its front bumper nearly torn off. Following the crash, several police officers swiftly evacuated the apparently injured suspect from the burning wreckage. Meanwhile, other officers attended to the female driver of the other vehicle, who was seated at the sidewalk’s edge, visibly rubbing her arm.

Thankfully, no reports have surfaced regarding injuries sustained by law enforcement officers during the incident.
