Injuries Reported in Menifee Vehicle Crash on Holland Road and Menifee Road
MENIFEE, CA (March 19, 2024) – Sunday night, a crippling auto accident on Holland Road and Menifee Road injured 1 person.
The incident happened around about 9:37 p.m. on Holland Road and Menifee Road.
According to reports, an officer from the Menifee Police Department entered an intersection at a red light with their emergency lights and sirens activated. As a result, they crashed into a pickup truck.
The officer, responding to aid in a vehicle stop involving a suspected assault with a deadly weapon, was traveling westbound on Holland Road, while the pickup truck driver was heading south on Menifee Road, according to police.
Both individuals, the sole occupants of their vehicles, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to the hospital. The pickup truck driver was discharged later, while the officer, reported to be in stable condition, is expected to be released in the coming days, authorities stated.
Officer Chris Baldonado of the California Highway Patrol emphasized the importance of yielding to emergency vehicles at intersections, regardless of traffic signals. He advised waiting to determine the direction of the emergency vehicle before proceeding.
The collision is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol’s Temecula Area office.
