Injuries Reported in Rancho Cordova Multi-Vehicle Accident on Highway 50 near Sunrise Avenue

RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (November 3, 2023) – Wednesday afternoon, a crippling 7-car crash on Highway 50 near Sunrise Avenue injured 1 person.

The incident involving seven cars occurred just before 4:30 p.m. on eastbound Highway 50 near Sunrise Avenue.

According to reports, the crash left two patients, but only one was transported to the hospital.

Officers revealed that a male driver of a Toyota Tacoma traveled at a high rate of speed. Then, he swerved right and sideswiped a Subaru Forester.

Then, the Tacoma went out of control, left the roadway, and went up a dirt embankment near the Sunrise Boulevard off-ramp, striking a Toyota 4-Runner on the off-ramp.

As a result, both vehicles overturned after the crash.

Officers added that a Toyota Corolla, Subaru Outback, Toyota Camry, and Toyota Tundra were all struck by either the Tacoma or 4-Runner while they were in the Sunrise Boulevard off-ramp.

After the crash, responders took the driver of the 4-Runner to the hospital with minor injuries.

Meanwhile, alcohol and/or drug impairment didn’t play a role in the crash.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.

Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
