Gladys Guevara Critically Injured in Fatal Motorcycle Accident on Highway 18 in Crestline
CRESTLINE, CA (April 20, 2019) – A man was killed following a motorcycle crash Saturday evening in Crestline, authorities said.
Around 7:57 p.m., the California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino County Fire Department received a report of a motorcycle that had struck a guardrail on Highway 18 near Crest Forest Drive.
Upon arrival, they located a white 2015 Ducati 1299 motorcycle with two people down in the roadway.
The driver, a 38-year-old San Bernardino man, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has been withheld pending notification of his family members.
His passenger, Gladys Guevara, 29, of Colton, was critically injured and transported by ground ambulance to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the rider was traveling northbound in the second lane and attempted to negotiate a right-hand curve in the roadway. For unknown reasons, he lost control of the bike, ejecting him and his passenger.
It is unclear if alcohol and/or drugs were contributing factors in the crash. Authorities are looking further into the incident.
