Motorhome and Sedan Collide on Highway 101 in Crescent City, Fatality Reported
CRESCENT CITY, CA (December 9, 2018) – At least one person was killed following a motorhome crash Sunday afternoon in Crescent City.
The crash happened around 2:30 p.m. on Highway 101 near Del Norte Coast Redwood State Park.
According to an initial log, a Winnebago motorhome and a Saturn sedan collided for unknown reasons. Fire crews along with paramedics responded to the scene and found at least one fatality as a result of the accident.
The identity of the deceased was not immediately available pending next of kin notification.
Both the motorhome and the sedan sustained major damage and were towed away for evidence.
Both northbound and southbound lanes of Highway 101 were completely blocked near mile marker 18.99. The highway was fully re-opened roughly around 7:33 p.m.
Police are still investigating the cause of this fatal crash and more information will be provided when accessible.
